My black mood has passed! I am ready to do a meme! I am slightly delerious due to lack of sleep from my dad doing dishes at three in the morning!

Stolen from [personal profile] cypher

End of the year fandom meme.

Your main fandom of the year?
...I guess it was still Tales of Vesperia? At least, that's what I wrote the most for. Yuri continues to be my favorite video game hero ever, and in fic he just works in whatever position (hee) you put him in.

Your favorite film watched this year?
Hmm, my favorite would probably be Prince of Persia or Inception, because they were both so much fun, but I think the best film I saw this year was In Bruges, which about three people have ever heard of. It's about two hitmen who go to Bruges, Belgium, and craziness ensues.

Your favorite book read this year?
The Bell by Iris Murdoch. It was a book I read for a class, if you can fathom that. Iris Murdoch was a philosopher and feminist, and she has made a virtue ethicist out of me.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year
Folie A Deux by Fall Out Boy, and I am not afraid to admit it. [personal profile] mmefrankenstein finally got me to listen to it, and I don't care how mainstream and silly people seem to think this band is, this is an awesome fucking albumn. The lyrics are odd and wryly insightful, and is it sexist that I like hearing boys sing about feeling like whores? I mean lines like, "My body is an orphanage, we take everyone in," and "Free love on the street, but in the alley it ain't that cheap," both fill me with glee.

Your favorite tv show of the year?
Sherlock, the new bbc, modern interpretation of Sherlock Holmes. I seriously cannot stop freaking out about this show. The theory is that Sherlock Holmes was always a modern story, but it got old and became a period piece. In this version Holmes has a website and Watson has a blog instead of a journal, and they are always texting and using GPS, and basically everyone they meet thinks they're dating, but the show still has the same energy and atmosphere as the stories.

Your favorite LJ/DW community of the year?
Playing on [community profile] kink_bingo for the first time was ridiculously fun, and I'm still a huge fan of [community profile] oddible, even if hardly anyone ever posts there. Music and writing have always gone together for me, and it's cool to have a comm that is all about that.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Probably Resonance of Fate, even though no one has played it and it's hard to the point of being ridiculous sometimes. But it has a gorgeous world, awesome characters, and a strange, nonsensical sort of atmosphere that I haven't got from a game since Shadow Hearts.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
This is an easy one. Uncharted, for reasons that I will probably go into in more depth in another post. Just...boring and disappointing all around.

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Sherlock. What is it about me and socially awkward British geniuses?

Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Detective Kate Beckett from Castle. Oh, Kate Beckett. How are you so awesome?

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Basically everything involving Rush and David, I think.

Your most missed fandom of the year?
Hmm...sometimes I miss writing for Kingdom Hearts. But then I go back and read some of my old writing, shudder, and there is no more of this silly talk.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I definitely need to get into Mass Effect--it's on my list.

Your biggest fan anticipations in the New Year?
Playing with my [community profile] fanbingo card. It's a very exciting thing sitting at the bottom of my screen, looking at me.

Just read the latest update on the Trolls and just. I don't understand. Why spend so much of your time doing stuff to get on people's nerves. Why not, oh...eat some ice cream. Or hug a puppy, or hell, rob a bank, because that would at least yield some results for you.
Posing as concerned parent groups? I mean, really?

But thank you, thank you, thank you to Dreamwidth, for not conceding to their demands and fucking over your users like so many people have done (I'm looking at you, LJ) and sticking to your promises of free speech and unfiltered content. This makes me very happy, and gives me hope for the interweb yet!

And in other news. Assassin's Creed II. Eating my life. For reals. And um...the Drowning City by Amanda Downum is an excellent book with an incredible setting. I remember [personal profile] cypher recing it, so when I saw it in the bookstore I thought I'd give it a shot, and gosh am I glad I did!
